About Patience

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Species: Dog
  • General Color: Red/Golden/Orange/Chestnut with White
  • Color: Patches

Patienceis a nearly two years old old red heeler and possibly chow mix who has
been with CPP since she was a small puppy. She naturally has a reserved
temperament plus growing up in the country resulted in her being under
socialized to many things in the environment.  Patience also is very
particular about who she shares her toys with and prefers to eat separated from the other dogs in the household. She has made it clear that she would be happiest with another dog companion though, and her high energy, intense play style would be a good match for another energetic dog.

As Patience has gotten older she has shown signs that she is not very comfortable with smaller children, especially when they move quickly and are loud.  She also is not crazy about being hugged or petted unless she initiates the contact. As she becomes more comfortable Patience will solicit affection, but she is still nervous about her foster mom reaching out to pet her and doesn't cuddle. Therefore, she needs to be in a home with kids 12 and up.

Patience is now house trained, but she still loves her crate.  However, she likes to shred her crate blankets when stressed. She has decided that she likes the resident cats and tries to groom the oldest one, much to his dismay.
However, Patience will still try to chase birds or squirrels that she sees outside.
